The Kingdom – Lesson 2

Big Idea

As citizens of the Kingdom, disciples live as a contrast people exerting influence on those around them. Through both their spoken and their silent witness, Christians permeate society as agents of reconciliation, pointing toward the reality to come.

Application / Reflection

1) In what way does the image of a “City on a Hill” speak about our shared life and witness as the People of God?

2) What are some places where we are called to be salt and carry the light? What might “good works” look like in those various settings?

3) Jesus suggests that it is possible for salt to lose its flavor and light to be hidden. It what ways had that happened to Israel? How can we learn from this?
