The Facts

The facts are important.  Jesus said, “You will know the truth and the truth will make you free (John 8:32).” Skewing facts is a primary trick of the enemy.  If we are not careful, we will miss the facts.  There is power and freedom in knowing the facts because facts are empowering.

Text: I Peter 2:7-10; I John 3:1-3

Both Peter, who was writing to the persecuted, and John, who was writing to the tempted, expressed that people should not follow the path of the world.  We must follow God’s path.  We must abstain from transgression and iniquity.

God’s Word and the new birth experience are the most valuable things available to us.  If you have received the new birth experience, you will receive a changed life. Acts 2:38 says repent, be water baptized in Jesus’ name and you shall receive the gift of Holy Spirit. If you have received the “new birth” experience, God has forgiven your sins, and you need to act like it.

It is easier for us to see where God has been, than to see where He is going.  We can believe what He did for Abraham, Moses, David, etc., yet we have difficulty believing what He can do for us in the here and now.  As a result, we must not rely on feelings.  Too many people wait on feelings before they act.  We must operate in facts and not feeling.  The Word is fact.

• There is freedom and liberty in knowing the facts
• We have God’s power
• We are believers
• We have authority to lay hands on the sick and they will recover
• We have been delivered from fear and confusion
• We have victory over satanic powers because we are children of God
• We have comfort, rest, peace and joy –gifts from the Holy Ghost

Some people get tricked because they allow the enemy to tell them what they want.  Sometimes what we are getting is not what we really want because the enemy has skewed the facts.  By the enemy’s standards, when we think we are getting freedom, we are getting bondage.  We must operate off of facts and not feelings.  Though we pass through trials, remember: Jesus is with us and will never leave nor forsake us.

We have all seen people enter a marriage and leave a marriage because of a “feeling.” Marriage is a commitment and not a feeling.  You get out of the relationship what you put into it.  The same holds true with our relationship with God and with our church.  Being in covenant with God will aligned us in everything we do.

The devil cannot give us anything that we don’t take from him.  Don’t miss living today by worrying and waiting on tomorrow.  The greatest and most important moment in our lives is right now.
