Helping Hands 2012 Food Drive
Thanksgiving Food Drive
The Sunday before Thanksgiving, Image Student Ministries Junior High students rolled up their sleeves and got to work helping many families at North Cities and within the community. They packed Thanksgiving care boxes full of numerous holiday food items that were donated through the Helping Hands Food Drive. Each box also included a grocery gift card, allowing all recipients to purchase any item they needed to complete their Thanksgiving meal. Shortly after service, students and volunteers loaded up their cars with the boxes and personally delivered the items to those family’s homes. Students were blessed with the opportunity to share a little cheer and love at each home.
For the first time since this community service project has begun, the mission of the food drive reached outside the walls of North Cities and into the Garland community. The Helping Hands Food Drive partnered with Good Samaritans of Garland, whose task is preventing homelessness and hunger amongst the working poor of Garland. Over 700 items donated by North Cities members were sent to Good Samaritan, allowing them to fulfill their mission and feed hundreds of families.
Many thanks to those who donated items! You were a blessing to many this holiday season. Here’s just one note of thanks received to warm your heart, “I and the members of my house would like to thank you for the food and the card. Please pass that along to the others involved as well. God bless.”
