The Kingdom – Lesson 1

Big Idea

Jesus’ opens His Sermon on the Mount by identifying those who are truly “blessed” and “happy.” Here, Jesus is describing what God’s Kingdom people are like—attributes that He modeled perfectly. The Beatitudes describe God’s work in the lives of believers as He showers them with His grace and rescues them from despair.

Application / Reflection

1) How do we grow together as a “blessed” Kingdom people?

2) It what ways do we already experience the blessed life? In what ways do we rest in hope for blessings yet to come?

3) How is God at work changing our values and inclinations so that we more accurately reflect Kingdom ideals?
