Passion Week Day 1
Scripture Reading
But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. More. Matthew 24:36-25:29
Prayer
Lord, thank You for inviting us to participate in Your work on earth. We humbly receive the authority and responsibility to live as stewards of the resources You have placed in our hands. We joyfully serve with little or with much. We trust Your wisdom in the talents you place in our lives. Show us what it means to live in light of the cross and Your second coming.
Discussion
- How does a reminder of Jesus’ second coming help you understand the crucifixion? How does this reminder guide us in times of suffering?
- Think about the parables Jesus taught. Why do you think He discussed both rewards and punishments in each one? How does your answer help you to make good stewardship decisions this Easter season?
- While Jesus sacrificed His life, and God has called others to similar commitments from time to time, most of us are called to a different form of total commitment. We live each day as stewards of the gospel. How can Calvary, the empty tomb, and the second coming guide you in daily care for those around you?
